Maurice Love McKennie
MCKENZIE: Services for Maurice Love McKennie, 76, were
on Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Brother Dennis Beal officiating. Burial was in
Enon Cemetery.
Mr. McKennie, a retired self-employed commercial
contractor, died Friday, December 7 at Oak Manor Health
Care Center in McKenzie.
He was born December 3, 1925 in McKenzie to the late Annie
Lee Barker McKennie and Preston Polk McKennie. He was a
member of Enon Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran
of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Berneal Zigler McKennie; a son,
Gary McKennie of McKenzie; three sisters, Sue Nell Wilson,
Joyce McDearmon and Patty Foster, all of McKenzie; two
brothers, H. R. and Wayne McKennie, both of McKenzie; two
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Thomas "Tom" Lonardo
PARIS: Thomas "Tom" Lonardo, 80, died Monday, December
10 at his residence. Services were held at 3:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, December 12 at First United Methodist Church,
with Dr. Phillip Cook and Charles Orr officiating. Burial
was in the Johnson Chapel Methodist Cemetery.
He was born August 18, 1921 in Providence, Rhode Island to
the late Emil and Margaret Striano Lonardo. He was married
October 4, 1944 to the former Claire Taylor, who survives.
Lonardo attended school in Rhode Island, including the
University of Rhode Island. He was a World War II army
veteran and came to Paris in 1942 with the Camp Tyson band
as a string base player.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Thomas
Taylor Lonardo of Memphis; two sisters, Carmello DeMarco
of Cranston, Rhode Island and Margarite Carrera of
Providence; and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph
Lonardo and Dr. L. T. Lonardo.
The family requests memorials be made to Henry County
Medical Center Hospice, 311 E. Wood Street, Paris or the
Organ Fund at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Blythe
Street, Paris.
Charles "Charlie" Curtis Pinkley
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Charles "Charlie" Curtis Pinkley, 69,
died Sunday, December 16 at the Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital. Funeral services will be on Wednesday,
December 19 at Prospect Baptist Church with Brothers
Johnny Boyd and William Fowler officiating. Interment will
follow at New Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Pinkley was born March 19,1932 in Parsons to the late
Connie and Ruby Raines Pinkley. He was a member of
Westport Baptist Church and a retired forklift operator
for Gaines. Two brothers, Jim Pinkley and Larry Pinkley;
three sisters, Levon Davison, Lardean Hartley, and Burnice
Pinkley and a nephew preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Irene Pinkley; a
daughter, Sabrina Pinkley of Huntingdon; two brothers, S.
W. Pinkley of Washington and Terry Pinkley of Huntingdon;
and several nieces and nephews.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Frances Bell
HOLLOW ROCK: Services for Mary Frances Bell, 75, were
at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17 at Bruceton Funeral
Home with the Rev. Joey Simmons officiating. Burial was in
Robertson Cemetery in Tennessee City.
Mrs. Bell, a retired cook for Krystals in Nashville, died
Saturday, December 15 at her residence.
She was born June 24, 1926 in Hickman County to the late
Charles Oscar Phillips and Florence May Roberson Phillips.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include six daughters, Joyce Romero of
Paramount, California, Janice Reynolds, Peggy Taylor and
Diane Forrest, all of Hollow Rock; Patricia Agy of
Bruceton and Denice Doss of Waverly; four sons, Earl Bell
and Douglas Bell, both of Hollow Rock, Wayne Potter of
Afton, Paul Bell of Dickson; twenty-four grandchildren and
fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Henry Bell, Jr., preceded her in death.
Larry D. Lewis
WILDERSVILLE: Funeral services for Larry D. Lewis, 57,
were held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12 at the
Reed's Chapel in Lexington. Burial was in Marlin Cemetery
in Wildersville.
Mr. Lewis, a preacher and school bus driver, died Tuesday,
December 11 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Lewis; one son,
Terry L. Lewis of Fairview; one sister, Brenda Kay
Stanford of Troy; one brother, James Ralph Lewis of
Westport and one granddaughter.
Freddie Gene Edwards, Sr.
WILDERSVILLE: Services for Freddie Gene Edwards, Sr.,
55, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18 at Timberlake
Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington. Bural was in
the church cemetery.
Mr. Edwards, who was disabled, died Friday, December 14 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Elnora Edwards; his father,
Eddie Edwards of Lexington; three daughters, Genise
Edwards and Anglus Edwards, both of Wildersville and
Jennifer Delk of Jackson; two sons, Freddie Edwards, Jr.
and Dennis Edwards, both of Wildersville; two sisters,
Maecuple Peason of Champaign, Illinois and Joyce Hall of
Cedar Grove; and two brothers, Claudell Edwards and James
Edwards, both of Des Moines, Iowa.
Bledsoe Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the
arrangements.
Billy G. Dunlap
FORDYCE, ARKANSAS: Billie G. Dunlap, 61, died
Thursday, December 13 in his home. He was born May 13,
1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He was worked in Fordyce as a
supervisor for Phelps Dodge and also as a supervisor for
Millcreek of Arkansas.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Fordyce; a
35-year member of the Fordyce Fire Department; a member of
the E.M. Lodge in Fordyce; a 32nd Degree Mason; a member
of the Arkansas Archaeology Society and a life member of
the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Dunlap; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Billie Gene and Gwynne Dunlap of Fort
Worth, Texas and Eddie and Brenda Dunlap of New Edinburg;
one daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Stacy Trammell of
Fordyce; his mother, Annie Dunlap of McKenzie; one sister
and brother-in-law, Janice and Billy Chandler of McKenzie;
and nine grandchildren, Jeanna, Dylan, Clint, Kristen,
Morgan, Megan, Cara, Zachary and Casey.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday,
December 15 at Benton Funeral Home Chapel in Fordyce.
Burial was in Smith-Morgan Cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth Mathey
HUNTINGDON: Ms. Mary Elizabeth Mathey, 68, died
Sunday, December 16 at the Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted
on Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday
Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bernice Birdwell
officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill
Cemetery.
Ms. Mathey was born November 22, 1933 in Carroll County to
the late Almer and Ester McMinn. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Roger D. White of Cicero,
Illinois and James W. White of Lexington and six
grandchildren.
