OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2001 

Beverly Louise McClure Barnhart
MCKENZIE:
Memorial services for Beverly Louise McClure Barnhart, 59, were Friday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie.
Mrs. Barnhart died Tuesday, November 13 at her residence.
She was born October 3, 1942 in Paris. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
She is survived by her husband, James B. Barnhart; her mother, Mary Louise McClure; one daughter, Wendy Spivey of Ypsilauti, Michigan; two sons, Larry Pierce of McKenzie and Phillip Barnhart of Ypsilanti, Michigan; a sister, Sherry Poore of Canton, Michigan; four brothers, Eddie McClure of McKenzie, Mike McClure of Milan, Gary McClure of Canton, Michigan and Bill McClure of Ypsilauti, Michigan; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Beverly Barnhart Fund at Union Planters in McKenzie.
A daughter, Beverly Faye Barnhart, a son, James Randal Barnhart and her father, William McClure, preceded her in death.

Vella "Dean" Hargrove
TREZEVANT:
Services for Vella "Dean" Hargrove were Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Allen officiating. Burial was in the Republican Grove Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hargrove, a retired employee of HIS in Trezevant, died Friday, November 16 at Life Care Center in Bruceton.
She was born March 20, 1931 in Trezevant to the late Gilla B. Johns Ervin and J. H. Ervin. She was a member of the Republican Grove Baptist in Trezevant. Her husband, Jake L. Hargrove, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Walker of Trezevant and Peggy Jo Hopper of McKenzie and one brother, Dewayne Ervin of Union City.
Brummitt Funeral Home of Trezevant was in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Joyce Delaney
NASHVILLE:
Services for Betty Joyce Delaney, 73, will be Wednesday, November 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Harpeth Chapel with Rev. Timothy Turney officiating. Interment will be in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Delaney died Monday, November 18.
Survivors include her husband, James Delaney of McKenzie; a daughter, Janice Flatt of Henderson, her mother, Myrtle Sexton Kee and two sisters, Margaret Morris and Alice Lindsley, all of McKenzie; two brothers, James Sexton of Carrollton, Georgia and Dale Sexton of Greenfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at West Harpeth Funeral Home and Crematory, 6962 Charlotte Pike at Davidson Drive. For more information, call 352-9400.

William R. "Bud" Litton
TRIMBLE:
Services for William R. "Bud" Litton, 86, were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 19 at Trimble First Baptist Church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Litton, retired school bus driver for the Dyer County School System, died Friday, November 16 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a member of Trimble First Baptist Church, 52-year member of the American Legion and a World War II U. S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Butler of McKenzie; two sons, Herbert Guy Litton of Trimble and Tommy Litton of Cummings, Georgia; two brothers, Woodrow Litton of Waverly and Mack Litton of Trenton and three grandchildren.
His wife, Annie Hardin Litton, preceded him in death.

Bessie Mae Billings McCain
BRUCETON:
Services for Bessie Mae Billings McCain, 81, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at Clark Street Baptist Church. Burial was in Humble Cemetery.
Mrs. McCain died Monday, November 12, at her home She was preceded in death by her husband James Nathaniel McCain.
Survivors include two sons, Charlie James McCain of Nashville and Nathaniel McCain of Bruceton; three granddaughters; and three stepsons, Edward McCain, Gene McCain and Wilford McCain.
Stephenson-Shaw Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Anita Belew
HUNTINGDON:
Funeral services for Anita Yvette Belew, 47, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at Beasley Street Church of Christ. Burial was in Clover Dale in Milan.
Ms. Belew died Monday, November 12 at Maplewood Nursing Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracey B. Taylor and Dewuana Atkins; one son, Lamont B. Atkins; three sisters, Joyce Hale, Maxine Hart and Beverly A. Horton; two brothers, Curtis Houssel and Kenneth Belew; and two grandsons.
Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Leah Levene Dean
MCKENZIE:
Services for Leah Levene Dean, 83, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Clement officiating. Burial was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean, a retired Laundromat attendant, died Saturday, November 17 at her residence.
She was born May 9, 1918 in Tullahoma to the late Sally Harrison Chapman and Edward Chapman. She was a member of the Faith Full Gospel Mission.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Higdon of McKenzie; three sons, Tom Heckert of Nashville, Jerry Heckert of Indiana, and Douglas Heckert of Prescot, Michigan; twenty-three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John Dean preceded her in death.

Herman "Dike" Haynes
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN:
Services for Herman "Dike" Haynes, 75, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 9 at Holy Temple Baptist Church with the Revs. Walter Word and L. Ann Barnes officiating. Interment was in Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Haynes, a retired employee of the Milwaukee Road Railroad and the Heiner Warner Company, died Saturday, November 3.
He was born June 29, 1926, to the late Buddy and Pokey Haynes in Henry.
Survivors include a son, Herman Haynes, Jr.; two daughters, Darlene Haynes and Vickie Haynes; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Chester S. Schantz
HOLLOW ROCK:
Chester S. Schantz, 92, died Wednesday, November 14 at the home of a daughter, Ruth Ann Mann in Hollow Rock. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Richard C. Denton and Steve Whitworth officiating. Burial was in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery near Hollow Rock.
Born June 17, 1909 in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Socrates John Schantz and Caroline Foster Schantz.
He was married December 19, 1930 to the former Agnes Irene Pruett, who died April 29, 1997.
Schantz was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church near Hollow Rock.
A retired carpenter, he was a member of the American Local 417 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners in St. Louis. He was a lifetime Boy Scout and a Scoutmaster in St. Louis.
Survivors include one other daughter, Pam Blossom of Innsbrook, Missouri; two sons, Don Schantz of Innsbrook and Bob Schantz of Foristell, Missouri; one sister, Louise Clark of Newark, Ohio; one brother, Thomas Schantz of St. Louis; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine Golden, Caroline Clark, and June and Alberta Haemmerle and four brothers, Socrates, Edwin, Francis and Walter Schantz.

J. D. Blankenship
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. J. D. Blankenship, 77, died Friday, November 16 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, November 19 at the Smyrna Baptist Church with Rev. Parker officiating. Interment followed at New Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Blankenship was born December 10, 1923 to the late Dewey and Clara Robertson Blankenship in Carroll County. He was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church. A sister, Irene Bishop, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Blankenship; one son, John Blankenship of Germany; three daughters, Loraine Bentell, Kim Blankenship and Yolanda Blankenship, all of Carroll County; two brothers, James Blankenship and Chester Blankenship, both of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Maurine Hollingsworth of Bruceton and Lucille Jones of Cedar Grove.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clarence Tyler Ellis
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. Clarence Tyler Ellis, 72, died Thursday, November 15 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 17 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton, Brother Johnny Boyd and John Everett Williams officiating. Interment followed at Davis Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Ellis was born April 6, 1929 to the late Roy and Ada Hollowell Ellis in Carroll County. He was a retired employee for the State of Tennessee and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. A daughter, Linda Faye Ellis, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye Autry Ellis; two sons, Jimmy Ellis and Jerry Ellis, both of Huntingdon; one brother, Roy Ellis, Jr. of Clarksburg; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Sheila Ann Patterson
CAMDEN:
Services for Sheila Ann Patterson, 49, were at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 19 at Stockdale-Malin Chapel in Camden with burial at Sandy Point. Ms. Patterson, a nurse, died Sunday, November 18 at her residence in Camden of cancer.
Survivors include her mother, Sylvia Patterson of Camden, a daughter Krystal Leann Bell of Camden; a son, Mark Duane Fields of Camden; two sisters, Shirley Ruth Lag and Betty Faye Patterson, both of Camden and a brother, Charles Wade Patterson, of Bruceton.

Minnie E. Webb
HUNTINGDON:
Mrs. Minnie E. Webb, 87, died Sunday, November 18 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 20 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Lynn Stapleton and Mitchell Rayburn officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery near Yuma.
Mrs. Webb, the daughter of the late Tolbert and Doshia Grisham Williams, was born August 14, 1914 in Henry County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Comfort Baptist Church. A daughter, Dorothy Lee Webb; a brother, J. T. Williams and a sister, Ruby Willis, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, William Lester Webb; three daughters, Mildred Elizabeth Butler and Janet Bernice Prince, both of Huntingdon and Brenda Bee Dickson of Bruceton; two brothers, George Williams of Westport and Leslie H. Williams of Washington, Illinois; three sisters, Irene Gatlin and Sue Cary, both of Huntingdon and Betty Jane Cary of Gainesville, Florida; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
